Pray for the Unemployed again, Friday

Christine, how thankful I am to God for this blog, a lovely place where we can be one in spirit in praying for our needs and the needs of others!

Please join us once again in praying for the unemployed today, Friday.

Most Sweet Jesus,
most gracious and most loving God,
we call upon your name.
Grant we beseech thee, our brother and friend,
to grant employment to those who seek them.
Have mercy upon them, O Most Sweet Jesus,
for there is no one to turn to but you.
You have the power and grace
to grant what we need
that we may walk this earth with dignity
and the knowledge that we are truly loved.
We, as one body, ask you
to provide employment to the unemployed
and to grant our other petitions
according to your will. Amen.

Mama Mary, pray for us!
St. Joseph, pray for us!
All angels and saints, pray for us!

Thanks to you Christine and to all!

Prayer for Financial Aid

OLOPH
Realizing, dearest Mother of Perpetual Help, that thou art our perpetual help not only in spiritual but also in temporal necessities, we approach thee with submissive and humble hearts because we have a child-like and affectionate trust in thy power and goodness, beseeching thee to assist us in or present financial worry. 'Owing to untoward circumstances which have arisen in our lives, we are in dire want and pecuniary embarrassment, being unable to meet our honest debts.

We are not asking, dearest Mother of Perpetual Help, for wealth, if the possession of it is not in accordance with the holy will of God. We merely beg of thee that assistance which will enable us to satisfy our most pressing obligations.

We believe, Dear Mother of God, that thou art the Queen of heaven and earth, and as such, the instrument and special dispenser of thy divine Son's graces; that thou hast acquired by virtue of thy wonderful dignity, a sweet jurisdiction over all creation. We believe that thou art not only rich and bountiful, but extremely kind and generous to all thy loving and devoted children. We plead with thee, therefore, dear Mother, to obtain for us the help we so urgently need in our present financial difficulty. We thank thee, dear Lady of Perpetual Help, and promise. to publish far and wide, the glories of thy miraculous picture. Amen.

Prayer in Time of Economic Hardship

Heavenly Father,
it is symptomatic of our life today
that economics plays a large part in it.
People labor zealously for a wage
so that they can acquire the needs of life
for themselves and their families.
They also work for the so-called luxuries of life,
for the opportunity to have more leisure
to develop themselves in more ways,
and to keep up with their particular state of life.

Right now I find myself in a bad economic condition.
I just cannot seem to make enough money to take care of myself and my family.
Please help me in this dangerous situation.
Teach me to live within my means
while at the same time striving to increase those means.
Let me never lose heart but continue to work on.
Most of all, inspire me to seek first your kingdom
in the knowledge that everything else will be given me together with it.

Prayer for the Unemployed

Dear Lord Jesus Christ,
you wanted all who are weary
to come to you for support.
Lord, I am worn out
by my inability to find wage-earning work.
Day after day, my worry and fear grows
as the rejections of my applications mount.
I am able and willing to work-
but I cannot find a worthwhile job.
Please help me to obtain one soon
so that I can support myself and my family
in a decent way.

However, if it is your will that I wait longer,
enable me to worry less
and to be able to take advantage of the time available
to get closer to you.
Let me realize that there are other ways
to bring about your kingdom on earth
besides salaried work.
Help me to make use of them for the time being so that I may continue to grow as a person
for your greater glory.

A Fervent Prayer for the Sick and Suffering

Shared by Sue
O Almighty Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God and Savior. The same Lord that so loves His children as to lay His life down for them. The same Lord that rose from the dead on the third day, and Ascended into Heaven. The same Lord that spoke the word and the Centurion’s Servant was immediately healed. The same Lord that restored sight to the blind; cleansed lepers, cured the halt and lame. The same Lord that with a word rebuked the seas and they were calm. The same Lord that raised Lazarus from the dead.

The same Lord that has been given all power both in Heaven and on earth, do Thou, the same Lord visit and heal Thy servant, (__name__), from the afflictions that they are now suffering.

Strengthen our faith like that of the Roman Centurion, so that we may ask for this healing with the same faith, trust, and hope that Thy servant, (__name__) will be healed in the same manner that the Centurion’s servant was restored to health.

O Holy physician of our souls and bodies, hear this fervent prayer for Thy servant (__name__), and grant this request as we hold this, Thy servant up before Thy glorious Throne. We ask this in the victorious and Holy Name of our Lord, God, and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Prayer and The Golden Compass

A film called "The Golden Compass" opens December 7. It is based on the first book of a trilogy titled His Dark Materials. The author of this children's fantasy is Philip Pullman, a noted English atheist. It is his objective to bash Christianity and promote atheism. To kids. "The Golden Compass" is a film version of the book by that name, and it is being toned down so that Catholics, as well as Protestants, are not enraged.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father
whose goodness, mercy, love and greatness can never be outdone,
we glorify YOU, we praise YOU with much joy from the depths of our hearts!
Your Precious Son, Jesus, claimed victory for us once and for all;
He is victorious and reigns with you at your right hand.
We praise the Son for the blood he shed
That protects us from all that is evil!
Holy Spirit, by your power that moves us to goodness and love,
bring to our lips, mind and body the will to protect what belongs to God’s children
and to always act upon that will, the will of the Father.
Bring all of us Christians to unity and proclaim what is rightfully ours.
We claim God’s protection now and always!
We claim God’s greatness, love, mercy, and peace
for all the children of the world, for the Holy Trinity’s glory and honor.
We pray with our Mother, Mary,
Amen!

A Prayer for Healing

Melissa, a mutual friend of Easter's and mine shared this prayer for my friend Lois. I thought it was a good prayer to share with this group:

A PRAYER FOR HEALING
Lord, You invite all who are burdened to come to you. Allow Your healing Hand to heal NAME OF PERSON IN NEED OF PRAYER. Touch his/her soul with Your compassion for others; touch his/her heart with Your courage and infinite Love for all; touch his/her mind with Your Wisdom, and may his/her mouth always proclaim Your praise. Teach his/her to reach out to You in all his/her needs, and help his/her to lead others to You by his/her example.

Most loving Heart of Jesus, bring his/her health in body and spirit that he/she may serve You with all his/her strength. Touch gently his/her life which you have created, now and forever.
Amen.

This is a touching rendition of Panis Angelicus (with Sting).

Ask, Search, Knock

I thought it appropriate to share this with you:
"Suppose one of you has a friend and goes to him in the middle of the night to say, 'My friend, lend me three loaves..."

Ask, Search, Knock

We can be embarrassed by prayer of petition for sometimes we feel that we pray only when we want something. Jesus tells us not to have such inhibitions. The prayer of petition is natural because it expresses our awareness of our relationship with God. We are creatures who are not our own beginning or last end. Christ is glorified by what we ask the Father in his name. Because of God´s love for us we can ask for anything.

Prayer

Father, teach me to pray. Fill my lips with words that you want to hear. You are the Holy One whom all should honour and revere. May your Kingdom come in the fullness of time. I pray that the love of you may permeate the universe.

Give us the food we need each day, food for body, food for soul. I need your forgiveness for my faults and failings. I am often proud and over-confident, not remembering that I can do little without your help. Teach me the way to forgive and forget. Help me not to have bitterness within me. Give me the spirit, Lord, to forgive those who sinned against me. Do not let me wander to occasions of sin.

Help me to love you with all my heart, loving my neighbour as myself. May I always be humble enough to say "Your will be done". You know, Lord, what is best for me and those around me. As I storm heaven with prayer, you are listening, giving what I need. Thank you, Lord, for all you did for me. Don´t forget me in the months and years to come. Give me the chance to honour and praise you for all eternity. Amen.
