Prayer Request for Henry

Please pray for my sister's husband, Henry, who is in on dialysis and is in need of a kidney transplant. Thank you!

Prayer Request for Rebecca

A friend has asked that we pray for her sister:

Please pray for my sister, Rebecca, who drove herself to ER with headache and pain in her jaw. She said she could feel her heart racing as she sat down in the chair while she was cleaning one of her rentals. I had been trying to reach her all day. She answered while in ER. They are running tests and doing blood work. Please pray everything comes out well.

Please pray for the Unemployed today, Friday

That All May Have Work

O God, the Creator of all things, you have made us in your own image so that we may find joy in creative work: have mercy on all those who are unemployed, and those who find their work dull, especially for _______. Help us to build a society where all may have work and find joy in doing it, for the good of our world and the glory of your name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

for Meghan...

Please pray for my niece, Meghan, who had to have emergency surgery last week for a large cyst that was growing on her ovaries. Fortunately, the doctor was able to save them, so if she ever gets married she may still have children, but the cyst itself was causing all kinds of infection.
Thank-you very much for all your prayers; I continue to remember you all in mine!

Prayer Request by a Local Friend in HI

My friend June has requested the following prayer:
..." We need your prayer group for our dear friend Jimmy Loto who lives in Honolulu, had a hip operation and now some heart trouble and his not doing
too good. Please Please have your group pray for him. Thanks..."

A tragedy in Italy

For the repose of the souls of the Gypsy children who drowned in Italy while others ignored their plight and, later, their bodies on the beach. May God grant them eternal rest, and may their souls rest in peace.

Prayers also for their families, and for those who refused to either help the children or respect the presence of their dead bodies.

And prayers for all those in the world who believe it is OK to practice racism.

Pray for a Confused Young Man

The following prayer request was left in the comments by Bill:

Lord touch me and heal me of this homosexual feeling that wants to ruin my soul. I also pray that I may give Glory to thee when I get the sacrament of Holy Matrimony as a true testimony of your grace.

Please Pray for Non-believers

There's a very sad story in the news lately about a man who has decided to make a point about the Eucharist by purposefully defiling it. I will not link to any articles about it or give his name because I don't want unnecessary attention on this blog due to it.

I'm saddened by this man's hatred and lack of respect for fellow people - regardless if he shares in the same belief.

But this is when I understand what Jesus meant about "turn the other cheek." Fighting this man will not make him change his mind. Yelling at him will not make him change his mind. But perhaps if we love him and pray for him he will come to realize that it is not simply a 'cracker' he is talking about - but the Real Presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Perhaps if love is shown to this man - even though he is showing none to us - he will change his ways. Perhaps he won't. But if he doesn't, we can at least stand before our Lord and say, "I did not hate him. I loved him, even as I despised his actions, and I tried to affect a change in him through prayer." Isn't that what Jesus asks of us. Is it easy? No. He wouldn't have to ask us to do it if it were easy.

I Offer You My Sufferings

Since many of the prayer requests are for people suffering, I thought it appropriate to share the following prayer with you:

I offer You my suffering

Lord Jesus, I can no longer do many things.
My disease has deprived me of energy.
It is difficult not to be able to work!
I wish to offer You my daily suffering.
It is on the cross that You saved us all.
Lord, take my cross and put it on Yours.
I offer my pain for those that are in need;
for the work of mothers and fathers,
for missionaries,
for the leaders of the Church,
and for all who are called to announce Your Gospel.
I offer my pain for those who are more ill than I
and particularly for those who will join You soon.

Praying is about all that I can do at the moment,
but I do it wholeheartedly.
It is a way for me to work for You,
so that I am useful to others.
Amen
