Prayer Request for meeting with abortionist

Operation Rescue is asking Christians around the nation for special prayer for a meeting that is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 29, 2008, between pro-lifers and a working abortionist. In order to prevent any efforts to undermine this meeting, we are not able to tell you at this time where the meeting is taking place or who is involved.

This opportunity has been ten years in the works and is the result of much prayer. The abortionist in question is finally at a place where he appears to be open to hearing the truth.

A Note to Contributors

I love the way this blog has grown and how so many wonderful people are part of the team. Thank you all so much.

I have two requests. Housecleaning type of things.

1) Please try to title your posts with something specific "Pray for a Little Boy Who Fell Down a Well"; "Prayer needed for Baby Born Too Early"; "Family of Ill Child needs our Prayers" - you get the idea. This way if someone is trying to locate a particular post in the archives - they are not all labeled "Prayer request" and "urgent prayer request". I have no problem including Urgent in the title. And in fact, you can use that as a label as well. I'm just trying to avoid having all our post titles be the same. Thanks.

2) Answered Prayers. I know that sometimes we don't know the answer to a prayer - especially if we are praying for the needs of someone else - and that sometimes it takes a long time to recognize that a prayer has been answered. I, also know we've gotten a lot of posts that do address answered prayers - and that is fantastic (it's the point of the blog after all). But for all you contributors - if you could occasionally go through the prayer requests you've made and see if there has been an answer to that request - and then tell us about it - so we can all praise God with you, I'd appreciate it.

The Gospel says that "one came back" and thanked God. We want to make that "many came back" and thanked God.

Thanks to all of you who have helped to make this endeavor what it is!

And thanks to Esther for the cute graphic!

This is from one of our dear moms in our parish mom's group.

"Please put Joey L. on your prayer list ASAP

His mom is at the hospital right now with him…He has a lymphnode in his neck that is very very large, a 104 fever, and a rash. And they do not yet know what is wrong with him."

Thank you all so much!
Jane

Joey L. has Kawasaki Disease. Please pray that the hospital will quickly start his treatments and…Please pray specifically that no damage will be done to his heart.

Joey is on a ventilator and is suffering hypotension. This situation requires immediate prayers! Please storm heaven for this little boy (age 4) and his family!

**Update** 3/31

He is doing better…he is by no means great…but he is doing better. They are removing the ventilator and weaning him off the heart medications.

Keep praying…he has a ways to go yet to be healthy…he needs our prayers.

**Update** 4/2

Joey is improving more and more…he will be able to come home Thursday night or Friday sometime.

All Doctors are now in agreement that it was Kawasaki and that the Kawasaki caused Congenital Heart Failure/Congenital Heart Disease. Children recover from this fully though…he will be on heart meds for a few months.

Continued prayers for Joey’s heart to return to normal and give God praise and thanksgiving for his recovery!

Ill Fall-Away Catholic Considering Abortion

We just found out tonight that my husband's cousin who is 29 weeks pregnant has a failing liver. She has been hospitalized and will need a transplant.

The hardest thing about this is that she has left the Church and has lived a life of great sin. I will not list them here but they are dire and have most likely led to this condition.

They are thinking about aborting the baby, despite the fact it seems healthy.

She needs so many prayers for so very much. Please, I beg you to pray for her and her precious baby. Help bring her back to the faith, pray for her to keep her baby, and for her health. Pray for her to know that God loves her deeply despite her failings.

Prayer of Saint Gianna Beretta Molla
Jesus, I promise You to submit myself to all that You permit to befall me, make me only know Your will. My most sweet Jesus, infinitely merciful God, most tender Father of souls, and in a particular way of the most weak, most miserable, most infirm which You carry with special tenderness between Your divine arms, I come to You to ask You, through the love and merits of Your Sacred Heart, the grace to comprehend and to do always Your holy will, the grace to confide in You, the grace to rest securely through time and eternity in Your loving divine arms.
Amen+

Update on Urgent Prayer Request

I want to thank all of you who have been praying for the urgent prayer request I made awhile back, as there has been some important progress made. I feel that continued prayer for guidance and discernment are needed in regard to this confidential request.

I would also like to request prayer to discern whether or not I should continue blogging as I have had numerous overwhelming technical problems -- my blog no longer allows me to make any changes to my layout, my computer has server and connectivity problems on a daily basis, and I need help in these areas if I am to continue to blog.

Spending hours on a daily basis attempting to (unsuccessfully) make changes on my own even with many years of experience at blogging seems to be a waste of my precious time. Please pray that if God wants me to continue this apostolate, He will send someone my way who is a skilled technician who can assist me with all these problems. Thank you.

One Hail Mary for the above requests would mean so much to me. God bless you!

Prayer Request for Fr. C.

Thank you.

Prayer Request for My Mom

This is kind of a long story, but my mom lost her puppy last night. This is the third dog she has lost in the last five years or so. The other two were old Newfoundlands but this was just a little puppy and unexpected. She is taking it very hard.

She is also under a lot of stress at work and is not doing well. She took a new job far from home and her parish community. She does not have the support and faith community in her new home and so her dogs are very dear to her.

I am extremely worried about her as she does not even look herself.

So please, say a prayer for her. She really needs some love sent her way.

Thank you

A Correction...

I am afraid I posted wrong about the family of the woman who was killed last week in that accident in the parking lot.
I have just found out that two of the children whom I see over there are not their own children, but a niece and a nephew who visit quite often; Steve & Roxanne had only three of their own.
So sorry for the mistake here, but I guess that just goes to show that they really were a wonderful couple, since others' children would want to stay with them so often! :)
Please continue to keep them in your prayers; I am afraid that the loss of his wife will forever change Steve's happy and carefree nature...and the neighborhood will indeed be the lesser for that.
Since they moved here only a couple of years ago, he has been a kind and friendly presence to everyone he meets, and I pray that he never loses that.

David A. Pantaleo, R.I.P.

Well, ladies, I am not sure what is going on around here, but there is another completely unexpected death that I need to report and ask for your prayers.
A young man who was the son of our family photographer, David Pantaleo, died Sunday. Please remember him and his family in your prayers.
Our daughter is getting married in July and David's parents, Al and Debbie, are going to be the photographers...also, Al did graduation photos for several of our other children.
David was only 25 years old.
Thank-you all very much and God bless...

Another Update - Fr. Corapi

The following was posted on Sue's blog today. Apparently, the rumors of Fr. Corapi needing our prayers were not rumors. Sorry for the complications. I should just have requested prayers for him period.

Healing Masses for Fr. Corapi

In recent days, an excerpt from an email from Fr. Corapi to persons unknown has crossed the Internet like a tsunami. Although Santa Cruz Media did not confirm the news when queried two days ago, Fr. Corapi’s community, the Society of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Trinity has confirmed that Fr. Corapi is indeed undergoing testing at the Mayo Clinic.

Fr. Corapi’s superior has approved the sending of Mass Cards for Fr. Corapi.

Mass Cards should be mailed to:
Fr. John Corapi, SOLT
PO Box 152
Robstown, TX 78380

Through Him, With Him, In Him,
Sue

Please Pray for the Hadley Family

You have until 12 Noon Pacific time to donate to the Easter Hope Challenge over at Shower of Roses. You can donate by clicking the button in her sidebar up at the top. All the money goes to the Hadley Family and you get the chance to win a beautiful basket donated by Jessica and her family.

~ Please continue to pray for their family, thank you ~

Please pray without ceasing!

Ladies ~ A neighbor of ours, her name was Roxanne, was killed Saturday afternoon while she was out shopping with two of her children.
They were standing at the back of the car, putting away groceries, and an elderly woman across the way was backing out, panicked when she saw them, and stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal by mistake, hitting Roxanne and pinning her between the two cars!
Then, trying to move away (I guess) she drove forward, dragging her along, hitting two more parked cars and a pole, before she finally stopped!!!
Poor Roxanne's last act on this earth was to push the children away so they would not be hit.
She and her husband Steve had five children and the family is, needless to say, completely devastated.
Please keep them all in your prayers, that Our Lord and His Blessed Mother will remain with them (I don't believe they are Catholic) and comfort them in the nightmare of days ahead...her funeral is today and then the family will have to find a way to go forward without her.
They were on our local news yesterday...the truck was parked outside the house for over an hour, and the reporters also went to the store and talked to witnesses, also to the police.
This event has sickened the entire neighborhood and I don't believe Steve will be without support for a long time to come, but that doesn't bring his beloved Roxanne back...I feel so awful for them; please pray without ceasing!!!
Thank-you very much and God bless us, everyone!

Update - Fr. Corapi

From: Sue of Half the Kingdom Apparently, there was an email going around (it is at the end of Sue's email) with a rumor of Fr. Corapi's illness.
Dear one in Christ,
Greetings in the matchless name of Jesus Christ!
I am writing as the message concerning Fr. Corapi's health is actually a false rumor. After learning of it, I phoned Santa Cruz Media and they informed me that he has had the flu, but that is all. His decision to not travel for 2008 was one made outside of any health issues, which, at this point, by the grace of God, are not as represented in the email excerpt being forwarded and, for your reference, contained below.

Having said that, it is always a good and important thing to pray for our beloved priests. As Fr. Corapi has such a cherished charism, we must pray for him specifically, daily, that God's grace may continue to enable him to so effectively transform lives for the better.

I do encourage you to phone Santa Cruz Media ( www.fathercorapi.com) yourself on Monday and confirm this information for yourself. The lady I spoke with there said they were already aware something was afoot as they have been getting many calls of inquiry in recent days concerning Fr. Corapi.

In the united hearts of Jesus and Mary,
Sue

Dear Stephanie, Thank you most sincerely for your very kind invitation regarding your May 30, 2008 Celebration of Priesthood. Normally I would be very happy to be there if it were possible.

I am at this moment waiting for a private jet to take me to the Mayo Clinic. I have been quite ill for over six months and the local physicians can't solve the riddle. In addition, for the first time in
20 years I am not traveling at all in 2008.

Please pray that God's will be done in my current situation.

We shall pray for your parish and diocese, your Bishop and all of your seminarians.

God bless you, Fr. John Corapi

Pray for Patrick

A friend of mine called and asked for prayers for her husband, Patrick. He was admitted to the hospital a couple of days ago for chest pains and tests are being done.

Prayer Request for Stacy

From someone in one of my Catholic e-groups:

Hi all. I was hoping you'd pray for my friend and ask others to also.

She is in her late 30s like me and has 4 kids one of which (the baby)
she is/was still nursing till this week.

She found out this week she has leukemia.

She is divorced from the three oldest kids dad. He got into drugs,
lost their home and destroyed them financially.

Those kids need their mother.

Please pray with me that she can/will survive this till they are grown
and on their own.

The oldest is 11.

Her name is Stacy.

Thanks Everyone!

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST FOR OUR FELLOW BLOGGER

Hello Dear Precious Prayer Warriors,
I have come to know this wonderful brother of ours, John Michael of St. Bellarmine: Contoversies and Secrets. He is a wonderful husband to Regan, devoted husband to their 3 children, and wonderfully orthodox in his beliefs. Please pray for him as he needs our prayers. Let us storm heaven as One Body in Christ Jesus. How I thank you all!
Here's Therese's (of Aussie Coffee Shop) urgent email to me:

Hi Easter,

In about 3 hours John Michael is going for a job interview that wouldgive him a much better job.His wife emailed me and asked me to pray for him. They are expecting their 4th child and Regan (his wife) said he has been concerned with finances and feeding another child. She also has diabetes. She has been such a help to me with Tom and knows many little tricks that have helped us keep him under control. With the new job, her pump costs will be so much more affordable because the health cover will be better. I just thought I would ask you to join in praying and if you could pass it on to other bloggers I am sure John and Regan would appreciate it.

God bless,
Therese

Pray for Soul of Chaldean Bishop

The Chaldean Bishop who had been kidnapped in Iraq last month has been found dead.

We offer our prayers for his soul. Also for any family he has, and for the church that he led. It will be particularly difficult for them as we approach the Easter season.

Also, let us offer our prayers for the people who did this to him, that someday (hopefully soon) they will recognize the evil that they have committed for what it is and turn away from that evil and toward God. I don't know if that will ever happen, but we can certainly pray that it will.

Rest in peace archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho.

Prayer Request - Fr. Corapi

Thanks Jean for letting us know!

From Mark Shea's blog

Prayer for Fr. John Corapi

He's been sick for over six months and they don't know what's wrong. He asks prayers. (I don't know him, but I'm getting emails forwarded to that effect.)

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me as I pray for the full healing of Fr. Corapi and the grace of Christ to bear whatever cross he has for the good of his soul and the good of the whole Church.

Amen.

Father Corapi is NOT ill, please see this updated post.

Prayer Request

Please pray for a very crucial and urgent special intention. Thank you so much! God bless you!

Man Hurt at Work

A man at my husband's work fell 12 feet this weekend from a catwalk. He landed on his head on a hard cement floor. He broke both his hips, 4 ribs, suffered a collapsed lung, and has a severe head injury.

He is in the hospital and will probably be flown out to a bigger city so that they can replace the ball in his hip. He will be out of work for a very long time.

Please pray for him and his family in this time of suffering and pain.

God bless and thank you.

Cool New Feature

Amy Caroline was kind enough to create a widget for One Came Back. If you scroll down the side bar you will see it. It has our logo and lists the recent posts. If you would like to add this widget to your own blog simply click on where it says "Get Widget" and follow the directions. Quite simple really.

Thanks so much Amy Caroline!

Pray for Reconciliation

SK left the following prayer request in the comments:
Please pray that Dave and I reconcile. It has been a month since we spoke and had our fight. I have tried to contact him telling him how sorry I was for fighting with him. We have been dating for about 6 years now. Please pray that God will open his heart to forgiveness and open the lines of communication between us. Please pray that we reconcile soon. I ask this in Jesus our Lord and Savior's name Amen

Urgent Prayer Request for Rich M.

On January 29th I asked you to pray for my brother in law's friend Rich. Here

Tonight my mom gave me an update and it is very sad. She says that he contracted some sort of blood infection at the hospital while visiting his father. Since that time, the doctors have amputated his legs and fingers and Rich is now unconscious.

Please pray that he is not suffering much and that God will heal him as well as help his family. He is a husband and father of two little girls.

Thank you,

Prayer Request for Alfredo's Mom

My friend emailed the following to us today:

Hi everyone,
Please keep Alfredo's Mama, Lucila, in your prayers. She has been in the hospital since the beginning of December, and now the hospital just called to gather the family -- seems like she may be on her deathbed. Please pray for her soul and the conversion of others on the family tree who need prayers of conversion and healing. Thank you and God bless
Thank you for praying for her and her family.

Pray for the Repose of a Soul

The mother of my very dear friend, Rose, passed away on Wednesday night. While any loss is hard on the family, they are thankful that her suffering is over. My friend is also pleased that Wednesday morning her mother seemed to be in much better shape than she had for the past several days. She was sitting up and alert and they had a very pleasant visit. That evening she died.

I never met Rose's mother, but based on the obituary Lauretta Cippolla was a wonderful woman who will be missed by many.

I especially found this part touching:
Family to her was first and foremost. Granny loved to cook and her grandchildren recall fondly Sunday dinners and holidays at her house, which will never be forgotten. If a family member got sick, the soup was already cooking. When anyone stopped by, they couldnt leave without having something to eat. Worrying was her favorite hobby. During bad weather, she wasn't able to sleep unless every member of her family was home safely. The annual canning event at her house became a family affair and the tradition will continue with incredible memories. Lauretta was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Anthonys Church and the Society of St. Benedicts in Elizabeth. She prayed the rosary on a daily basis and candles were always burning in front of her collection of statues. She was a very special person and will be greatly missed by her loving family and anyone that had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy of love and kindness will live in our hearts forever.
Rest in Peace Lauretta. And thank you God, for being with the family in this difficult time.

Please Continue to Pray for the Kidnapped Chaldean Bishop

Yesterday evening, another telephone call, increasing the ransom and dictating conditions which “complicate the case”. Still no guarantees on the “wellbeing” of the bishop, abducted on February 29th. These latest developments raise fears that these are no ordinary criminals interested solely in money. Iraq’s premier sends a message to the Chaldean Patriarch.

Baby Born Healthy and Strong!

Several months ago I posted a prayer request for a friend Laura. There were great concerns about the baby after an ultrasound showed that their might be complications.

On February 24th Laura delivered Thomas into this world healthy and strong. Thank you for all your prayers.

Photobucket

Here is what Laura said:

I want to ask people to thank God so much for answered prayers in regards to Thomas' birth. He is thriving, happy, lets me sleep, and I didn't get any ppd this time at all. We are all just so happy and grateful for all of these gifts.

Thank you Saint Gerard too!!

She also asks that you please pray for her husband who might receive a promotion at work:

...hubs is on the verge (before the end of this year) of getting a HUGE promotion at work. His boss is retiring and he has a really good chance of getting his job. This would be amazing for his future health (no more outside work to kill him early with his chronic asthma problems) and we would no longer have to worry about bills. This is such a biggie!

Thank you all for your prayers!
God bless you all!

Prayers of thanksgiving

I am happy to announce that since my original prayer request, my father-in-law went to WORK today (the first time since May 1st) and was completing all of his paperwork for his new job! AND the whole family went to St. Peter's (the parish where their kids attend school, but they have not been attending the church) of their own volition this past Sunday! I am convinced that as great a rejoicing as we are having over his employment pales in comparison to the celebration in Heaven when this family returned home. Thank you all and God Bless you for your efforts!

Tom.

Tom is back in the hospital with blood ketone's again. He isn't as high as he was three days ago but this is a worry to me. We have no idea what is causing this. Usually when a diabetic has blood ketone's they are either dehydrated or have high bsl's. Tom doesn't have either. Please pray for him and for his doctor's that they can find out what is happening and help us solve this problem.

Urgent Prayer Request for Fr. Bernard "Brian" Gallagher

I read this on Leticia's blog:
A terminally ill Roman Catholic priest is the center of a tempestuous legal battle between a court-appointed temporary guardian - who has demanded his return to an Arizona care center - and family and friends - who believe such a move could kill him.

Fr. Bernard "Brian" Gallagher, 76, a retired priest from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Yakima, Washington, is the focus of a custody struggle between his family and a woman acting as his legal emergency guardian. Imelda Guadalupe "Lupe" Kowalczyk has insisted to authorities that Fr. Gallagher is mentally incompetent and cannot make his own decisions, among which is Fr. Gallagher's well-documented desire to live with fellow religious in California and to finish his days with constant access to the Mass and the sacraments.

Update - Praise Report - Bob

In December, I posted a prayer request for one of my friend Becca's NASCAR friends:
HERE The following is from an email I received from Becca.
A while back I had requested prayers for my friend Bob who was losing his eyesight due to diabetes. Today he wrote a very enthusiastic praise report that he is getting his eyesight back, his eyes are healing and he is surprising all his doctors!

I just wanted to thank you for your prayers and Bob does too, and ask that you continue to pray for his eyesight. Thanks SO much!
Thank you everyone for your prayers and of course, thank you dear Lord.
