A terminally ill Roman Catholic priest is the center of a tempestuous legal battle between a court-appointed temporary guardian - who has demanded his return to an Arizona care center - and family and friends - who believe such a move could kill him.ARTICLE
Fr. Bernard "Brian" Gallagher, 76, a retired priest from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Yakima, Washington, is the focus of a custody struggle between his family and a woman acting as his legal emergency guardian. Imelda Guadalupe "Lupe" Kowalczyk has insisted to authorities that Fr. Gallagher is mentally incompetent and cannot make his own decisions, among which is Fr. Gallagher's well-documented desire to live with fellow religious in California and to finish his days with constant access to the Mass and the sacraments.

I just wanted to thank you for your prayers and Bob does too, and ask that you continue to pray for his eyesight. Thanks SO much!

A Family in Need
I am asking all of you to read this. I just learned about this from Regina's blog.
I know this family. I have taught Peyton in his religious education classes and vacation Bible school. This boy is the sweetest, kindest boy. He is so creative and he was always eager to volunteer to help.
I know, like us, a lot of you don't have a lot of money, so I am asking that you pass this on to others, so we can find ways to help this family. If you can give, please do, there is a list of locations and more which will take donations for their family.
Of their three children, one has for sure been diagnosed, they think the middle child has it too, and the youngest is being tested.
Oregon Boy, 10, Suffering From Deadly Childhood 'Alzheimer's'
Hadley Help
This is from their website:
Unfortunately, Zavesca is a new drug, and the cost for one 100 mg pill is
$100. Our child(ren) will be taking up to three 100 mg. pills each day,
which is over $9000 per month for one child. Currently, our insurance has
agreed to cover half of the cost for a one year period, after which time, they
will review the progress of the drug, and either approve or deny further
coverage.
There are times when news can hit you so hard you are nothing but overwhelmed by emotion. These are really good people, really good kids. Please, pray... pray hard.
St. Gerard, who, like the Savior, loved children so tenderly and by your prayers freed many from disease and even death, listen to us who are pleading for these sick children. We thank God for the great gift of these children and ask Him to restore them to health if such be His holy will. This favor, we beg of you through your love for all children and mothers. Amen.

Gary can be contacted through:

BAGHDAD AB , IRAQ
Tough times don't last..,,,,,,Tough people do !!!
My name is Gary Hogan. Some of you receiving this know me, some do not. My wife, Cindy, is 32 years old and has just been diagnosed 3 days ago with stage 4 cervical cancer and her chances for survival are very slim. She was pregnant with our second child and had miscarried recently at 3 months, and now we know why. This is a request for you to forward this e-mail to everyone you know, asking for prayer. The more people that pray for her to be healed, the better.
Please pray and ask everyone you know to pray for the HEALING of Cindy and the removal of all cancer in her body, so she may enjoy all that life has to offer, and to continue to be the wonderful mother to our 5 year old son, Michael. The power of Prayer is unsurpassed.
I want the whole world to have her in their prayers the next few weeks. God will hear our cry. Please do not be offended by my plea...... This is only a request for your help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this and helping with our request for healing! No words can express the power we have when we each do a little to come together.
Regards, Cindy's in-love husband - Gary
Thank you, and please send it to the far reaches of our world.

Prayer Request for Collin
...You might remember that last summer I asked for prayers for my son's friend, Collin. Right after school was out, they discovered that he had stomach cancer, and at that time it was inoperable. So he went thru chemo until the fall when they did operate. Unfortunately, they couldn't get all the tumor, so he went back for more chemo - which just ended a couple weeks ago. We're all reeling from the news that the cancer has now spread. Please, please pray for Collin and his family. I just can't imagine his mother's heartache, and every time I kiss my 9 yr old good-night, I think of her and what she's facing. Thanks!
Hugs,
Jane

For My Aunty Carmen
Pray for Peace for Ken
I am praying and asking for your support of as regards the woman I love, Dania. She has turned away from me and the visions and path laid before us because of fears that have nothing to do with me but have to do with the past. These fear were fanned by those who are of the world and don't respect grace nor even know me. I love her with all my heart and have never shared as powerful a connection nor as wonderous an ongoing series of prophetic visions with another as I have with her. I miss her dearly I ask that her fears be healed powerfully and the deceptions be seen for what they are. I ask that the Lord reveal that I would never in a million years do what I am accused of. I ask that a powerful reconciliation and miracle of love be brought to this situation. I ask on bended knees and with humble faith both the Lord and you, prayer warriors, that these intentions and prayers be recognized and empowered to manifest.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May the Lord be there for all on this board and all who cry out for justice, love and peace.
Amen and Amen

Prayer Request For Rich M.
Please pray for 47-year old Rich McC. He's a friend of my brother... He had flown down to Florida for his father's funeral when he took deathly ill (high fever, kidneys shut down).
He's now back in NJ in ICU at a local hospital. He has sepsis which is extremely serious (see below) and often fatal. Just a few days ago he was fine. He had dialysis yesterday. My brother visited him last night in ICU and said he looked bad (beet-red skin, blisters on arms, etc.).
Thanks,

We Humbly Accept
Two bloggers this week, Esther at A Catholic Mom in Hawaii and The Catholic Warrior have blessed One Came Back with an award. The award is the Excellent Blog Award and on behalf of all the contributors to this blog, I humbly accept this reward. I'm so happy that this blog is doing what I hoped it would do when I started it - giving people a place to share their prayer requests - but most importantly a place to remember to share the answers to those prayers.
The rules: By accepting this Excellent Blog Award, you have to award it to 10 more people whose blogs you find Excellent Award worthy. You can give it to as many people as you want but please award at least 10. Thank you out there for having such great blogs and being such great friends! You deserve this! Feel free to award people who have already been awarded…I nominate for this award - everyone who is a contributor to this blog (see the list of contributors and contributors blogs in the sidebar). I am honored and pleased to be part of this endeavor with you. Thank you - all of you. You truly are excellent.

Prayer for Financial Aid

Realizing, dearest Mother of Perpetual Help, that thou art our perpetual help not only in spiritual but also in temporal necessities, we approach thee with submissive and humble hearts because we have a child-like and affectionate trust in thy power and goodness, beseeching thee to assist us in or present financial worry. 'Owing to untoward circumstances which have arisen in our lives, we are in dire want and pecuniary embarrassment, being unable to meet our honest debts.Printed with Ecclesiastical Approval. Source: This Site
We are not asking, dearest Mother of Perpetual Help, for wealth, if the possession of it is not in accordance with the holy will of God. We merely beg of thee that assistance which will enable us to satisfy our most pressing obligations.
We believe, Dear Mother of God, that thou art the Queen of heaven and earth, and as such, the instrument and special dispenser of thy divine Son's graces; that thou hast acquired by virtue of thy wonderful dignity, a sweet jurisdiction over all creation. We believe that thou art not only rich and bountiful, but extremely kind and generous to all thy loving and devoted children. We plead with thee, therefore, dear Mother, to obtain for us the help we so urgently need in our present financial difficulty. We thank thee, dear Lady of Perpetual Help, and promise. to publish far and wide, the glories of thy miraculous picture. Amen.
Prayer in Time of Economic Hardship
it is symptomatic of our life today
that economics plays a large part in it.
People labor zealously for a wage
so that they can acquire the needs of life
for themselves and their families.
They also work for the so-called luxuries of life,
for the opportunity to have more leisure
to develop themselves in more ways,
and to keep up with their particular state of life.
Right now I find myself in a bad economic condition.
I just cannot seem to make enough money to take care of myself and my family.
Please help me in this dangerous situation.
Teach me to live within my means
while at the same time striving to increase those means.
Let me never lose heart but continue to work on.
Most of all, inspire me to seek first your kingdom
in the knowledge that everything else will be given me together with it.
From New Saint Joseph People's Prayer Book, Catholic Book Publishing.
Prayer for the Unemployed
you wanted all who are weary
to come to you for support.
Lord, I am worn out
by my inability to find wage-earning work.
Day after day, my worry and fear grows
as the rejections of my applications mount.
I am able and willing to work-
but I cannot find a worthwhile job.
Please help me to obtain one soon
so that I can support myself and my family
in a decent way.
However, if it is your will that I wait longer,
enable me to worry less
and to be able to take advantage of the time available
to get closer to you.
Let me realize that there are other ways
to bring about your kingdom on earth
besides salaried work.
Help me to make use of them for the time being so that I may continue to grow as a person
for your greater glory.
From New Saint Joseph People's Prayer Book, Catholic Book Publishing.

An update and a new request
And now 3 other friends...I don't know what is happening in the world.
One couple in SD - Husband is being kept alive by blood transfusions because of aggressive cancer. There is no cure for it, and a decision has to be made re the treatments. She has deep faith (Catholic).
A close friend of my DH is waiting to hear the results from a biopsy.
A dear couple who now live in VA - husband used to work with mine - she has cancer all over her body. It hit fast and without warning at Christmas. She's already had surgery and is getting aggressive treatment from a great hospital. She feels good right now. Pray for her husband and 3 children (young adults). She has deep faith (Catholic). Her BIL is a priest and has already annointed her.

Neighbors Need Prayers
Now I would like to request prayers for the neighbors on the other side. They are a wonderful couple who have been married more than 60 years. The husband will be 91 next month and he was recently diagnosed with dementia. It started slowly with forgetfulness. It expanded to the point where a few months ago he thought he was still working as a plumber and would go outside, not see his truck and get very upset and convinced it had been stolen. Day after day.
And it's gotten worse. I saw his wife this morning and when I asked how their Christmas was she said that everyone in the family had been sick - and that Charlie was worse. She couldn't tell me much because she started crying. But she did tell me that he is awfully confused these days - and no longer knows who she is.
It's heartbreaking and I don't really know how to help them other than to offer prayers. So - please, can all of you pray for Genn and Charlie. Thank you.

Update on Husband Needs Prayers
Prayers needed for Carol
Carol has recently made some improvement, but her prognosis is poor. However, the will to fight is still there and she has not given up! Because of the slight improvement overnight, her doctor has decided to push Carol to eat, and do breathing therapy and physical therapy. He said we will push her hard for the next three or four days to see if there is much improvement.
Please join me in lifting her up in prayer for strength, healing, perseverance, and peace. Please pray for an outpouring of God's graces upon her and for her acceptance of those graces. Also, please pray for her doctors and caregivers -- that they will be guided by the Holy Spirit in their actions and decisions and, like Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, give her compassionate, loving care. Please pray also for peace and comfort for her family.

Prayer Request from Becca
Ladies, I am sharing this prayer request (below) from a friend of mine who I know through NASCAR. His name is Bob and I would appreciate it if you could keep him in your prayers. Feel free to pass along this request as you see fit. Hugs, Becca
Dear Friends,
Today was not a fun day for me. I had an appointment this morning with my eye doctor. And I was looking forward to the appointment to get some answers. I recently had the third surgery on this right eye. It was diagnosed as having developed Diabetic-related (Caused) Neovascular Glaucoma. The Glaucoma shut down all the blood vessels in the eye, which caused the eye to start producing new ones, which also created scar tissue, and caused the retina to detach. I first had laser surgery on the eye, then surgery to put in a tube or stint, to lower the pressure in the eye. The doctor said all of that was successful. But then when the retina detached, he had to go in and fix that. When he got in, he found so much scar tissue that he had to further detach the retina to clear away the scar tissue behind it, and then re-attach the retina. They filled my eye with a silicone oil, and had hoped that within a month some vision would be restored. It hasn’t. Today, he told me that the retina wasn’t getting enough oxygen to heal the way it needs to, for vision to be restored. In addition, today, he found an ulcerated cornea, and we have started treating that with antibiotic drops. The bottom line is that he wasn’t very optimistic about the possibility of me regaining sight in the right eye at this point. He didn’t say it absolutely wouldn’t happen. He said he “hoped” it would happen. “We’ll do the best we can and see what happens,” was his comment.
All afternoon, while part of me has wanted to just lay in the bed and cry, my spirit has been recalling the story of blind Bartimaeus from Mark 10. When he heard Jesus was passing by, he cried out, “Jesus! Son of David! Have Mercy on me!” When Jesus called him to come, the story is so poignant. “Jesus asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?"
The blind man answered, "Teacher, I want to see." Jesus said, "Go, you are healed because you believed." At once the man could see, and he followed Jesus on the road.” (Mark 10:51-52 NCV). Jesus simply asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And Bartimaeus answered directly and to the point. “I Want To SEE!” And Jesus healed him. I don’t mean to preach, but I wanted you to know where I am. I have been calling out all afternoon for that same healing. I haven’t done an exhaustive study, but it seems to me that restoration of sight is one of the most prevalent healings in the Bible. So, I am believing for mine! And I ask you to pray in agreement with me to that end. Thank you for your prayers.

Called Home Quickly
Harry had suffered from various health problems over the years and dying quickly after all of that was really a blessing.
The biggest blessing though, was that the day before his heart attack was what his wife considers a wonderful day - a day to remember. They had gone out and done things. They had made happy memories.
As much as Dorothy will miss her husband, she has the comfort of knowing that their last day together was spent in a way she wouldn't change. She'll have no regrets. And the quick ending means that she won't have to replace those happy memories with memories of weeks or months spent watching her husband suffer in an intensive care ward.
Thank you God for the blessings you bestow on us even when we're not aware of them.
And we offer prayers for the repose of Harry's soul, and for Dorothy as she navigates the Holiday season while dealing with her grief.
ACT Went Well
A Big "Thank You!"...To all those who prayed for me as I took the ACT test. I won't know what my scores are for a couple of weeks, and then I'll know how I did. I felt like the first half went well, while the second half was quite challenging. However, I'm sure that God's Will will be accomplished no matter what the outcome. I hope I can get into seminary this fall though (*hint*! Hey did you hear that???).God Bless!
Even if his scores aren't tops (and I'm sure they'll be fine) the prayers were answered, because he feels confident in his accomplishment. And Good Luck with the seminary PBXVI!
Prayer Request from my friend Lois
Hi Everyone,
I am asking you all to include Alfredo's Mom in your prayers. My husband's mom went into the hospital last Thursday, and isn't getting any better, but seems to worsening. She is presently taken to ICU at St. Francis's hospital here in Honolulu. I thank you in advance for your kind prayers for my husband's mother. Finding peace in God is such a blessing, and we need to make sure all will make peace in their hearts in these serious times, and place their trust in Him.
God bless with aloha, Lois

Prayer Request From My Sister
I don't know any of these folks, however, please say a prayer for them. It was sent to me by someone I know from Church.
Love,

Hello Friends and Family -
This is Erin Hopkins with a very urgent and sincere request for prayers. My friend and one-time college roommate, Stacy Gannon, is battling brain cancer and has been receiving chemo and radiation for nearly one year. Stacey is a mother to two young children and a wife to Joey, they live in Atlanta. She just found out that she is 18 weeks pregnant. She became pregnant during her chemo and radiation and therefore, the baby has been exposed to these chemicals from day one.
She has opted to take a 10 week break from her treatment to allow the baby to reach 28 weeks gestation, when they will deliver the baby via C-section. She has been informed by her baby-related doctors that the chemo is very strong and particularly attacks DNA growth in cells and therefore the baby. They are quite certain that there will be neurological damage to the baby, although the ultrasounds have thus far showed relatively normal growth.
Additionally, her cancer-related doctors have told her that they do not want her to stop her treatment of cancer (even for 10 wks!) because her cancer is so aggressive. They said that if they allowed her to carry the baby to 40 weeks gestation, she would probably not live to deliver the baby. So, Stacey is choosing to give her child a chance and risk her own life. I still cannot believe the situation that this family has been put in, even as I type this.
As a member of Stacey's network of support and prayers, I am asking that you specifically say a prayer to Pope John Paul II. He is in the process of being named a saint and needs a second miracle to "qualify" for sainthood. We have decided to storm heaven with prayers to our former Pope, specifically asking him to stop the growth of Stacey's cancer while she stops her treatment.
Many of you may also be calling to mind the story of St. Gianna Molla, whom JPII canonized in the 1994, whose story is very similar to Stacey's. You can read it here.
Finally, I just want to thank you for having read this far. I appreciate the time you took to read this and say a prayer for Stacey, her unborn child and her family. Stacey herself asks that we be sure to pray for her husband, Joey who is truly heartbroken.
Sincerely,
Erin Hopkins
